DOOM Classic and DOOM II require a Bethesda.net account

An extra hoop to jump through

If you're planning on grabbing DOOM Classic or DOOM II on Switch, you should know that you'll be asked to either log in with your Bathesda.net account, or create one if you don't already have one. Once you log in and your account is authenticated, you'll be able to play offline. It's a minor hurdle, but one that people are certainly fired up about, so I felt it was worth mentioning.

It's a minor hurdle. That is, until Bethesda Accounts are discontinued one day and these perfectly fine OFFLINE GAMES can't be played anymore.

y tho?

Furthermore, is it only a one-time authentication or does it need to be authenticated online each time you want to play?

That's what I want to know. In the future if the Bethesda site is gone, will I still be able to play this on Switch? I'm holding off on buying these games until it's confirmed to be a one time thing.

I keep getting an error message after I try to sign in. Thus making it so I can't even play the game I just purchased. Its extremely frustrating.

Update: Looks like you don't need to login after the first time. You don't even need a legit email address.
