EA says they're "absolutely" looking into bringing more games to Switch

Sure you are, EA

EA's output on Switch, at least in terms of quantity, has been lackluster at best. One of the biggest publishers in the world, yet they ignore the hottest console out there. Is anything going to change? Game Informer asked EA's chief studios officer Laura Miele, who responded with a glimmer of hope.

“Yes. We invested with FIFA. We had good success there. I love that we have such a great global reach and global presence on that platform with that game. We are absolutely looking at more Switch games in our portfolio, so more to come on that. We’re not going to announce anything as of yet. But it is absolutely a platform we’re looking at for some of our more successful games.”

"Looking", yes.

"Doing", no.

EA is the company that formerly had Trip Hawkins as a lead designer. Trip Hawkins DETESTED working for the NES. His bosses had to threaten him to get him to make games for the NES. He would sooner quit making video games than make something for the NES.

That being said, EA will not ignore Nintendo during generations in which it's the market leader. EA's purpose is to make money, and even they're not dumb enough to turn down a reliable stream of profits out of taking sides in the Console Wars.

I'd go for Boom Blox HD

Wow what an unprecedented move, EA! I hope this leads to a new partnership of some sort..

The partnership is a bit of a surprise mechanic.

I'm always wary about people who use the term "absolutely". Far too often it is used as an empty, disingenuous statement to feign enthusiasm in order to stop someone digging deeper rather than as sign of actual commitment. And he used it twice. Oh dear...

Just put NHL on it EA. Sucks that there hasn’t been a decent hockey game on it yet.

Uh huh. Ok EA. I believe that could happen... I also believe Konami could start pumping out Castlevania games ,Sonic games could start being consistently good and Nintendo could make an online service that doesn't suck. All of these things realistically could happen but I'd be a fool for holding my breath.

Why must you turn this website into a house of lies?

Are you saying the site is lying about EA putting games on Switch? He does Express doubt that this will hapen.

I was quoting the Simpsons and I meant that to be aimed at the statement by EA.

Ah. Big whoosh moment.

I'll believe it when I see it.

You have nothing I want EA, just old IPs you hold prisoner and have no talent to make them fun again. I'd say youre the Uwe Bowl of ruining games licenses but at least Uwe Bowl could punch.

It would be good for the platform to have some of the successful EA games, but I have zero interest in supporting EA or playing their games.

The games they have made this gen have not been their best. Especially non sports games. I remember loving EA during the GameCube era. Need for speed was still good, the third person original bond game they made was one of my favorites.

PS3 and 360 era they were still going strong. I loved the original mass effect trilogy. I suppose I did like the tiger game that first used motion plus on wii.

I wish they at least tried. The fifa game from what I hear is serviceable at best. Other developers are bringing there biggest games over. Mortal Kombat 11 and Witcher 3 are out this year. And they are the full games. And if that Witcher port turns out to be good pretty much that is the new bar for third party. But they probably will just focus on the new 4K systems and say it is no time for the switch. That is the next statement I expect from EA in a few months.

EA keep your microtransation and loot boxes out my cousin Switch.

All snark and jokes aside, I can't think of any EA games I would want. If Need For Speed Heat is as good as the NFS Underground games were, I'd want that.

But I fully expect NFS Heat to be an awful game caked with too many microtransactions. That's what EA makes now.

We know they have 2 games in development for Switch, the first being FIFA, the other being a game developed by Velan studios.

There are plenty of titles of theirs that I'd pick up if they would bring them over. Hope something actually worthwhile comes from this.

Look, EA! We understand that agmes like Anthem doesn't have a chance to run on Switch (just like with RDR2, for example), but The Sims 4, with some EFFORT, is a good example. nd it seems to be a good fit for Switch also. And you should have "looked into it" years ago when the hybrid was already selling like crazy. You're a bit late in the GAME ;)
