What type of game is Ori and the Blind Forest: Definitive Edition?
The forest of Nibel is dying. After a powerful storm sets a series of devastating events in motion, Ori must journey to find courage and confront a dark nemesis to save the forest of Nibel. When did Ori and the Blind Forest: Definitive Edition launch on Nintendo Switch?
The full game launched on Nintendo Switch on September 27, 2019. Prior to that, a demo containing the prologue and first section of the game (approximately 30 minutes of gameplay) was released as a separate download on September 20, 2019.
If I play the Ori demo, will my progress transfer over to the full game?
Yes, as long as you complete the demo, and then own and open the full game on the same Nintendo account. Incomplete demo playthroughs will not transfer over, but progress towards achievements will.
Can I transfer saved games from my Xbox One or PC over to Nintendo Switch?
Unfortunately, that’s not possible at this time.
What should I do if I get stuck in a bad save state on my Nintendo Switch?
Ori and the Blind Forest always tracks your last 10 saves, so if you find yourself trapped and unable to progress further (for any reason), you can easily roll back to a previous save file. Simply return to “Start Game,” select your save, and then use the left stick to navigate up. Choose a previous save file and press “A” to load that backup save.
Are there any multiplayer features included with Ori and the Blind Forest: Definitive Edition?
Ori and the Blind Forest is a single-player adventure. There are no multiplayer features offered, either on the Nintendo Switch version or Xbox One or PC.
Why should I sign in to a Microsoft account on the Nintendo Switch start screen?
Signing in to your Microsoft account connects you to your Xbox Live account. This allows achievements earned on the Nintendo Switch to funnel back into your Xbox Live gamerscore. It also allows you to participate in leaderboard postings hosted by Microsoft services.
What is a Microsoft account and why do I need it for Nintendo Switch?
A Microsoft account is a free account you can use to sign in on a device. While it’s not required to play Ori and the Blind Forest: Definitive Edition on Nintendo Switch, it allows players to carry their achievement progress over to Xbox Live and participate in Ori’s leaderboards. You can create a free Microsoft account here.
How do I connect my Microsoft account to my Nintendo account?
First, ensure you have a free Microsoft account. Then, follow these steps:
Start Ori and the Blind Forest: Definitive Edition on your Nintendo Switch.
On the start screen, press “X” to sign in with a Microsoft account.
If this is your first time, a text box will appear with a link (https://www.microsoft.com/link) and a code.
Visit the link on a separate device with internet access. This will ask you for the code provided on your Nintendo Switch.
Enter the code in the Microsoft prompt.
After entering the code, you’ll be asked to sign in to the email connected to your Microsoft account.
This should link the Nintendo and Microsoft accounts. Moving forward, you should automatically sign in and no longer see the “Press X” prompt on the start screen.
Do I need to pay a subscription fee (like Xbox Live Gold or Xbox Game Pass Ultimate) to play online?
Online subscription fees are determined by the platform you play on, so an Xbox Live Gold or Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription is not required for Nintendo Switch players. However, to get the most out of Ori and the Blind Forest: Definitive Edition, linking to a free Microsoft account is highly recommended.
Does the Nintendo Switch version support both handheld and TV modes?
Yes, it does.
Does the Nintendo Switch version support Joy-Con and Pro controllers?
