Tekken producer fed up with requests for Smash Bros. Ultimate cameos, says devs don't "negotiate with spammers and terrorists"

He's not Tekken it anymore!

Katsuhiro Harada, the producer of the Tekken series, is getting quite annoyed with requests on Twitter about various characters appearing in Smash Bros. Ultimate. As a matter of fact, Harada's been so angered by these requests that he said he's specifically telling Masahiro Sakurai not to consider characters for Smash Bros. Ultimate. You can see the two tweets Harada made about the situation below.

I'm honestly a bit baffled by this. I understand that sometimes people can be rude with their requests and spam things over and over again on Twitter, but there can also be legitimate fans who are reaching out due to genuine interest. I'm not sure how far things have gone with the various people called out in Harada's tweet, but I guess the harassment was bad enough in his eyes to make a public comment.

I don't think a developer as big as Nintendo is likely to put any stock in a single tweet or two. Repeated requests is the only real way of getting something to happen.

Ugh... why? Tekken is just another largely Sony-exclusive series with barely any presence on Nintendo systems...

Tekken Tag Tournament 2 was a really nice Tekken/Nintendo crossover.

And like the only main entry of the series on Nintendo systems... out of nine I count (the 3DS game is apparently a spin-off)...

First of all with Joker in Smash this argument really doesn't work. Plus Tekken was on a Nintendo system as recently as Wii U

But also this has nothing to do with Tekken characters. Bandai Namco makes Smash and also makes Tekken, a fighting game. People must be assuming that because of this Harada must be involved with Smash when he isn't, and are in turn spamming him with requests. Neither of the tweets seem to indicate Tekken characters in particular

Not trying to start an argument or a debate or anything, but...

So making one mistake justifies another? Adding Joker didn't make any sense... neither would adding a Tekken character...

It's still the only entry in the entire series to come to Nintendo platforms... meanwhile the series has continued elsewhere...

Well duh... but that doesn't mean I can't voice my disinterest in yet another Playstation character in Smash or point out how little sense it makes to add them...

I don't want to have a debate on the first part either so all I'll say is Smash has been about celebrating the industry as whole and not just Nintendo systems for a while now.

If no one was talking about Tekken characters in Smash then why bring that up in a discussion about these tweets. No wonder that's what I thought you meant. Also... Tekkens been on Xbox for a while so it's not even a PlayStation series anymore, but again, really not the main point.

Joker fits in smash since he is infact in a recent 3DS game and will be in a switch title. Calling it a mistake is completely unfounded. I'm not even a fan of persona, but um tired of misinformation

Yeah... both of those are spin-offs... meanwhile all five main entries and the vast majority of spin-offs (there's apparently over a dozen if you count all the phone games) are no where to be found on Nintendo systems... this makes him, at best, even less qualified than Cloud before we got the lazy FF7 port (whose own inclusion was apparently justified by "sure FF7 never appeared on a Nintendo system, but we had Final Fantasy games before... twenty-five years ago--twelve if you count the GBA ports")...

Irrelevant. If they put in someone that literally has no nintendo ties whatsoever, then I'll be mad about it. "Its a side game so it doesnt matter" isnt even sound logic.

Though I understand where you're coming from. I used to feel like third parties didnt belong in smash bros to begin with. I'm whatever about it now, but not a single character on the dlc is a character I have ever played a game for. Still some pretty cool movesets though.

Man those Waluigi, Shantae, and Sora fans are getting relentless...

He's just saying this out of anger. Understandable. I doubt any legit business decisions would be made.
