French bookstore chain complains of slow Switch Lite sales

Sales have been rather...Lite

Furet du Nord is a chain of bookstores in France, and as you probably suspect, they sell some other items as well. One of those is the Switch Lite, and Furet du Nord is not happy with sales of the platform so far. They say sales are lower than their expectations, and they were quite upset by this, considering the Switch Lite is a new model. According to Furet du Nord, there's not much excitement surrounding the launch, and they've only sold 2 digits' worth of units so far.

I don't know a thing about Furet du Nord, as I've only now just learned about it. That said, do most people in France turn towards a bookstore chain to purchase their gaming devices?

Like JumpmanFR, i'm French and never heard about them either...

And yes, It would be pretty weird to buy a video game console from a bookseller...

I’m French and I’ve never heard about Furet du Nord.

As the name suggest, it’s a chain located in the North of France, in a single department, and it’s most likely a small and very local chain.

I’m quite surprised to see the source at NintendoSoup say it’s the "largest French book store". One of their shop may be a big one, but the chain in general is probably small and not very well-known outside its local area.

Maybe they should stick to selling just books.

It may be a new model, but it's a cheap, lite version. Just like paperback versions of hardcover bestsellers don't generate a big fuzz.

Booksellers should know this.

Not surprising considering the Lite is a downgrade compared to the normal Switch. It's hard to get excited about something like that.
