The Outer Worlds devs explain why the game doesn't have a colorblind mode
Colorblind-friendly from day one
Many games released in today's day and age include a colorblind option for players who have trouble deciphering the difference between select colors. The Outer Worlds doesn't include that option, but that's because it tackles the issue in another way. On Twitter, design director Josh Sawyer explained what their team cooked up.
The Outer Worlds does not have a colorblind mode because it was designed to be playable without color information. I.e., color information is redundant with other indicators. Tim Cain (one of the directors) has a form of colorblindness that approaches monochromacy.
