Astral Chain's director says the game's sales have surpassed expectations

A warm welcome from Switch owners

The latest issue of Famitsu contains an interview with Takahisa Taura, the director of Astral Chain. In that interview, we learn at least one great tidbit about how Astral Chain was received. While specific sales data wasn't shared, Takahisa Taura was happy to share that the game's sales have surpassed PlatinumGames' expectations. Hopefully that means good things for the brand going forward. I'm sure quite a few people would love to see a sequel announced!

I'm going to go ahead and trust that Platinum knows their business better than you do. They know what they put into it and they know what they needed to get out of it.

Yay! Now bring on the sequel, I wanna see where that story goes!

I bet if we get a sequel it will be for the switch, more cost effective plus it can come out quicker than if was for the launch of a new console.

Nintendo owns this one, so it'll be on Switch or it's successor.

How can it please them if it didn't even reach half a million?

For a game like this to be released, half a million should atleast be what it should have sold to be profitable.

Or maybe it's just or talk to avoid getting flak from gamers that a sequel won't happen?

Or maybe you don't scam your investors by misrepresenting your performance?

Let's also not forget how the game was a top seller for the switch during that month. If you go check the sales for the month of september, you can see that.

Where does it say how much it sold? Do you also have the numbers for downloads from the eShop?

On another note, the first Bayonetta sold around 1.5 million between the 360 and PS3 back in the day.
