The Joker has just made his debut in Mortal Kombat 11, and he comes with a concept art collection. Along with art for the design that made it into the game, the collection also includes some designs that were considered, and then scrapped. There's definitely some inspiration from classic movie versions of the Joker on display here, especially with the second and third options.
First one gives me vibes of Joaquin Phoenix's Joker from the recent movie. Second one feels very Nicholson-like, third reminds me of Ledger mainly because of the hair and somewhat smudged makeup, fourth one feels like a cross between Leto's Joker (the writing on his head is the big one) and Arkham Joker, and the last one is clearly based on one of the more recent comic versions of Joker whose face got cut off at one point.
