Animal Crossing: New Horizons will allow you to move users and save data to another Switch "later this year"

Wonderful news!

Here's a bit of good news for those who want to play Animal Crossing: New Horizons, but also want the freedom to move content to another piece of Switch hardware in the future. Nintendo's UK hub page for the game confirms that a solution is coming.

This game does not currently support the ability to transfer your save file from one Nintendo Switch console to another. However, a function specific to Animal Crossing: New Horizons to move users and save data to another console is planned for later this year.

Good to know the feature is being worked on. This confirmation should definitely assuage some concerns fans were having.

You had 7 Wiis break *in* you? I'm 99.99% certain that's a typo, but in the 0.01 chance it isn't, I want to know exactly what you're doing with those Wiis.

Switch Pro basically confirmed. Check mate atheists.

Will this be a one time transfer like they're doing a one time save data backup?

Good. Now they just need to lighten up on save data restoration. One time is a ridiculous limit. I get that they don’t want people abusing it but sometimes crap happens. I had 7 Wiis break on me. There can and will be people who need more than one restoration.

Edit: fixed spelling because apparently no one here has ever seen a typo before.

Yeah that was a typo. And people do tend to jump to the conclusion that it was something I did wrong. I assure you that wasn’t the case. I had extraordinary bad luck.

Fortunately Nintendo was very good about it. They extended the warranty and covered the repair/replacements every time.

This one is too pure for this world.

I had 7 Wiis break in me.

You what now? =O

Typo, already commented on.

Best typo I have seen in a long time though Smile

Meh. In the age of autocorrect I’ve seen much better.

I once saw “I’m looking forward to my uncle’s thanksgiving party” autocorrected to “I’m looking forward my uncle’s thanksgiving orgy.”

Now that’s funny.

You see, I already saw the "party to orgy" kinda coming. Not exactly that it ould be "orgy" but I saw something along those lines comibg. But the 7 Wii broke IN me...Well I was caught off guard on that one =D

A bit on-topic while we're here: I sure wonder what Ninty has in their plans for this. Broken Switch to new Switch/Switch pro and/or old Switch to Switch Pro is going to be very important in general, not just with AC. I sure am hoping for a Wii to Wii U like approach if they can manage that somehow. Will be interesting to see when the time comes for sure.

The fact that they haven't emphasized this, especially in the direct, is cause for alarm. This may not happen still, otherwise they'd be screaming this from the top of their lunges to ensure fans know it. It's more than a little weird that only the UK site mentions it, and the North American site actually specifically states "Animal Crossing: New Horizons does not support the ability to transfer your save file from one Nintendo Switch system to another."

In other words, don't get excited yet folks.
