There's a reason why Nintendo has been in the video game business for as long as they have. They excel at making games that put fun front and center. That's something the gang working on DOOM Eternal can really appreciate.

In an interview with Shacknews, DOOM Eternal Director Hugo Martin talked about the team's approach to creating their game, and how it match up with Nintendo's philosophies.

"What we said was it was like a Nintendo game with brutal combat,. What that means is, embrace the fact that you're a video game. Capitalize on what your brand can do, that other [games] can't do. In that sense, we're absolutely immersive, and it means we can embrace being a video game by communicating to the player very clearly.”
