Here's what we know as fact. Animal Crossing: New Horizons sold through 1.88 million physical units in Japan in just 3 days, making it the fastest-selling Switch game to date. It beat out the previous record-holder easily, which was Pokemon Sword/Shield at 1.3 million. What we don't know for sure is where the digital sales came in during that day, but we do have info from an insider.

Daniel Ahmad, senior Analyst at Niko Partners, is saying that New Horizons managed to move over 2.5 million units in Japan across 3 days when retail and digital are combined. We've seen New Horizons topping the eShop charts in Japan for weeks now thanks to preorders, so it wouldn't be surprising at all to see such a strong digital debut.

No matter what the figures are, even if you look at retail in Japan alone, the game has been an incredible success already.

Thanks to Dondom95 for the heads up!
