Both the Shanghai Public Security Bureau (police department) and Shanghai fire department are looking to inform citizens of the efforts being put in place to combat the spread of coronavirus. In a move that's sure to reach countless people, both agencies are utilizing Animal Crossing: New Horizons to share details.

Both the police and fire departments have shared informative videos via Weibo, a popular Chinese microblogging website that is similar to Twitter. These videos showcase Animal Crossing: New Horizons characters dressed in police/firefighter/medical uniforms, who then go over details on how the public can stay safe, and share info on the different measures the government is taking to slow down the virus.

It might be a non-traditional way to share crucial information, but it's one that'll reach far and wide, and also get people talking. Sometimes reaching the most people with your message requires thinking outside of the box, and hopefully this approach does just that.
