Fan-made "Paper Zelda" trailer looks good enough to be a real thing

Nintendo, take note!

When it comes to the 'Paper' treatment, Nintendo has gone all-out on Mario. There's been a few Kirby and Yoshi games that dabble in the papercraft genre, but Paper Mario is its own series. The gang over at 64 Bits doesn't think it's fair that Mario gets to hog all the folding fun, so they took a crack at things with The Legend of Zelda.

If you showed me the above trailer and told me it was Nintendo's next game, I would believe you. This is one of the most high-quality fan projects I've ever seen. The attention to detail is top-notch, and the references to the man adventures of Link and Zelda only make it that much better. Just watching the trailer makes me want Nintendo to give this idea crack. It's unbelievably charming, and I would be chomping at the bit to give it a go.

This is one of the best fan creations I’ve seen in a long time. Simply stunning.

Couldn't agree more, it's absolutely gorgeous! They obviously know their Zelda too, even spotted Zelda II reference in there.

Looks cute. However do we really want Nintendo to ruin another paper RPG?

I don't think I'd play a Paper Zelda, given that I've had no interest in Paper Mario, but I do have to concede that this trailer is VERY professional-looking.

This should have been a new IP so that they could make money off it rather than doing something that Nintendo will most likely takedown.

It should be obvious at this point that you shouldn't mess with Nintendo's properties.

Pretty sure this isn't a game... just an animation...

The Zelda fanbase would never go for it. That art style is clearly way too kiddy for them.

Are you talking about the "Celda" backlash from way back when, because I'm still a little mad that people got so upset over that. Either way, I'm glad they found their way back to Cel Shading eventually.

I wasn't around to experience it first hand but even reading about it years after the fact the cringe of all those complaints have stuck with me. (~_~)

Wind Waker's art holds up better than basically every Ninty game from that time not named Metroid Prime.
