Pokemon Co. says they won't hesitate to ban players cheating in Pokemon Sword and Shield online battles/tournaments

Your days are numbered, cheaters!

We recently talked about Pokemon Sword and Shield players cheating in online battles/tournaments by hitting the power button on their Switch at the right time in order to miss out on losing points in battles. Pokemon Co. is apparently well aware of the issue, and they're ready to dish out bans for cheaters. Check out their full statement on the matter.

“We truly thank you for supporting Pokemon Sword and Shield.

We are able to confirm that a number of players have been disconnecting from the Internet to manipulate their win/loss records for online battles and tournaments.

From now on, if we determine that players abuse this bug for their own gain in online battles and tournaments, we will not hesitate to temporarily ban or even permanently ban players from accessing online play in Pokemon Sword and Shield.”

They need to address cheaters more than in just this circumstance. You got the people still den exploiting and generating teams

This one probably takes priority though, since those activities you mentioned won't create an unfair advantage (and I'm someone who creates every team from scratch with no outside assistance or bugs and glitches).

I do groan any time I participate in a Max Raid Battle and everyone else's Pokémon are shiny though. Much of the time, they don't even contribute to the raid that well.

having battle ready teams day 1 of release before anything like bank was available kills online totally for me, and then they charge 40 extra for the game to enjoy that. Did work towards building a team and even got starf berry for my appletun (200 wins in battle tower, thankfully not needed in a row), but after that interest kinda died for the game, which was waaaay faster than earlier pokemon games for me. Cheaters doesnt help as even if you build knowledge of the game since gen 3, and should remember which pokeballs are available for which pokemon, it doesnt even matter since cheating is fully allowed and even "promoted".
