GN Version 5.0

The "Switch Pro" has been a rumor following Nintendo for years now. Plenty of industry insiders and dataminers claim to have evidence pointing to a revamp for the Switch, yet nothing ever comes to fruition. While it's been awhile since we've heard that kind of speculation, last night's Switch firmware update has renewed the discussion.

Dataminer Mike Heskin went poking around inside the Switch's Version 10.0.0 update, and he found some interesting details. According to Heskin, this firmware update adds preliminary support for a new hardware model llabeled "nx-abcd." Furthemore, 3 of the 5 new DRAM profiles are for this hardware type, and there's evidence of a secondary display of sorts being added.

Now what does any of that really mean? Your guess is as good as ours right now. It could be a hint of things to come, or it could be information that's being misread. Nintendo obviously isn't going to say anything until they're good and ready, so we'll just have to hang tight and see what comes up.
