AFL Evolution 2 getting Version 1.02 patch, includes Switch-specific fixes

GN Version 5.0

AFL Evolution 2 hit the Switch eShop recently, and those who grabbed the game found it to be quite the technical mess. Thankfully, the developers have been working on a major fix, and it should be releasing soon.

Version 1.02 for AFL Evolution 2 will hit the Switch soon, and it includes a huge amount of fixes, as well as some Switch-specific tweaks. You can check out the massive patch notes below.

Gameplay:

Fixed a rare issue causing players to be unable to pick up the ball.
Fixed a rare issue where handballs for the player or AI would go in an incorrect direction.
Will no longer be called for throwing the ball when the ball was kicked.
Reduced the ability to pre-charge kicks when marking to prevent accidentally kicking the ball after marking.
Prevented goal kick from working after marking when the player is in set shot range to prevent accidentally kicking the ball.
By holding sprint players can move around more freely after marking without getting called play on.
Made adjustments to conditions for calling play on to help prevent players accidentally playing on from a mark.
Players in set shots can no longer get smothered by opponent with no free kick called.
Fixed an issue with throw in being called when tackled close to the boundary.
Fixed an issue with being tackled over the goal line resulting in a boundary throw in.
Fixed an issue with free kicks while the ball was going out of bounds.
Fixed an issue with goals not being called advantage when a free kick is awarded.
Fixed an issue with directional player swapping causing a bump.
Reduced the effectiveness of speccies in pack marks.
Fixed an issue with players taking a speccie not getting called for in the back if their teammate marked the ball.
Fixed an issue affecting the players clearance kicks when aim assist was enabled.
Improvements to right stick targeting for player swap/lock.
Fixed an issue where pausing while kicking a set shot would reset the power bar.
Lowered the default run speed to be the equivalent of old slider value 40.
Lowered the default tackle distance to be the equivalent of old slider value 40.

Interchange:

Removed restrictions on interchanges (such as swapping the ruckman in a ruck)
Players can now set their teams as desired and the AI will take care of making the interchanges happen.
Improvements to the automatic interchanges selection of players for positions. (most notably ruckmen)
Fixed an issue where interchanging a wing player in the center bounce caused them to run through the center square.
Players who are interchanging will no longer ignore the flow of play if it comes near them.
Players nearby the flow of play will no longer be interchanged.
Improvements and fixes to using the interchange screen in online play.

AI:

Fixed an issue affecting the accuracy of the AI when kicking at goals.
Fixed an issue causing the AI to make random kicks when trying to kick to a target.
Fixed an issue causing the AI to make poorly aimed clearance kicks (usually out of bounds)
Fixed an issue causing the AI to kick the ball into the man on the mark.
Improved AI ruck timing on harder difficulties.
Fixed an issue with AI getting too close to the man on the mark when taking a set shot at goal.
AI on the mark will now follow the player.

Online:

Fixed an issue where players were unable to bump the player with the ball.
Fixed an issue where client teams players did not receive handballs correctly.
Fixed an issue where the client was unable to perform a set shot on the 50m line.
Improvements to visual appearance of jostling in marks.
Improvements to smoothness of client player on host.
Fixed an issue where the ball hitches to the ground when bouncing on client console
Fixed an issue with players getting bumped when performing a clearance kick being stuck running forwards.
Improvements to clients ball pickup.
Reduced network bandwidth usage.

Presentation:

Fixed an issue with the Home-Away distribution of the crowd.
Fixed some issues with Carltons banners.
Various corrections to guernseys.
Stopped the ball indicator appearing in cutscenes.
The umpire will now raise the ball in the air for start of all quarters.
Corrected an issue with bonus team flags.
Adjusted the lighting on the roof of Marvel stadium to better see when it is closed.
Fixed an issue with the camera getting stuck when the ball went out of bounds after a free kick.
Adjusted the time scale of the day-night cycle.

Audio:

Improvements to crowd cheers (Especially after a goal)
Increased the volume of crowd calls of "Ball!"
Reduced the volume of crowd chants (notably Western Bulldogs)
Reduced the frequency of chants.
Losing team will no longer be sore losers and chant over the winning teams song if they just scored.
Increased the volume of the whistle for free kicks and marks.
At quarter times the commentators will sometimes talk about players.
Commentary will no longer say 5 minutes remaining at the start of a 5 minute quarter.
Fixed an issue with commentators calling incorrect nicknames for downloaded custom players.
Fixed an issue with online clients having quieter crowds.

Career + Competition: (Note that some fixes only apply to new careers/competitions)

Added the ability to change the opposition's guernsey in Career and Competition.
Fixed an issue causing duplicated players.
Free agent players will no longer be allowed to collect two paychecks and continue to play for their original club after you sign them.
Fixed an issue causing guernsey numbers to shift around.
Improvements to the auto lineups choices of players to fill positions. (notably ruckmen)
Fixed an issue with not being able to remove injured or suspended players from the bench.
Players coming back from suspension will no longer be moved on to the team in manual lineup mode.
Fixed an issue with players who were both injured and suspended in the same game coming back on to the team prematurely.
Fixed an issue with being unable to advance past a team management dialogue when in Replace Injured and Suspended lineup mode.
Fixed an issue where turning off the game mid-match caused broken match/ladder results
Fixed an issue causing twilight games to be played with a red ball.
Fixed an issue with the quarter time length displaying wrong.
Added a league wide stat leaders screen that can be viewed and sorted by totals or averages.
Fixed an issue causing career games played to be incorrect.
Fixed an issue with banners for milestone games displaying in wrong round.
Players who are injured or suspended will no longer email requesting to play.
Players who were just moved into the starting 22 will no longer email asking to be put in it.
The Board will no longer demand you always make grand finals.
Fixed an issue with milestone games in emails being incorrect.
Fixed an issue with match loss emails not correctly listing the underperforming players.
Fixed an issue with the height of newly generated draftees (notably ruckmen)
Fixed an issue causing newly generated draftees to be named "PLAYER5" etc.
Generated draftees will no longer have odd guernsey number preferences and will just take what they are given.
Fixed certain players having far too much starting injury recurrence.
Corrected an issue with players healing too fast/slow.
Competition fantasy drafts now allow you to view the ratings of every player.
Fixed a misleading suspension short description.
Fixed an issue with teams not re-contracting their players.

Pro Career: (Note that some fixes only apply to new pro careers)

Fixed an issue with the pro player vanishing from the team roster
Pro player will no longer clone themselves to play for multiple teams in the U18 Championships.
Made adjustments to the frequency the pro player is interchanged.
Pro player interchanges should now be less abrupt and inappropriate.
Fixed an issue with the AI kicking the ball away when calling for it.
Job offers to the pro player will now vary the position they desire.
Accepting a job offer will adjust your preferred position allowing you to switch over time.
Players who are performing well in games will now not get dropped to the state leagues.
Fixed an issue with the pro player not getting ranked correctly for their game results.
Fixed an issue causing it to be too difficult to get selected as the #1 draft pick.
Increased the importance of performance in games to your draft selection. (Relative to completing objectives)
Now only your team will consider you worthy of being congratulated for milestone games on the banner. Not the opposition.

Fixtures: (Note that some fixes only apply to new seasons)

Improvements to fixtures dates for future years.
Added times/dates for round 23.
Fixed an issue with finals dates.
AFL fixtures are now in local time. Added a button to the fixtures screen that allows toggling between local and Eastern time.
NT Thunder has been moved from the NEAFL to the bonus league.
NEAFL fixtures will no longer have an issue with assigning a team to play bye rounds.
National Anthem now plays for games in 25/04 round.

Performance:

Performance improvements for all platforms but especially Switch.
Added a performance option in the Options->Graphics menu.
The performance setting allows for better performance and higher framerate in exchange for sacrificing some visual quality and functionality.
LOW: No loss of functionality or visual quality
MEDIUM: Significantly increased performance but replays cannot be viewed and visual quality is reduced
HIGH: Additional performance from medium but crowds and stadium scoreboards are off and player model quality is reduced

Platform Specific:

Xbox One: Fixed an issue causing black or multicoloured flashing on the screen.
PS4: Fixed an issue preventing progress through the UI for a PS4 set to a region with the X/O button swapped.
Switch: Fixed an issue with audio cutting out.

Misc:

Adjustments to the calculations for Player of the Match.
Team Management: Added team logos to the player comparison area.
Team Management: Fixed team roles not saving when hitting Save to Default.
Team Management: Swapping the kickout or second ruckman players off your team will re-assign their roles.
Fixed player numbers occasionally displaying incorrectly in the player details screen.
Fixed the "Leadership Group" achievement/trophy to not have a difficulty requirement.
Fixed an issue preventing the "Chas" achievement/trophy from being unlocked.
Fixed an issue preventing the "A Ton Of Goals" achievement/trophy from being unlocked.
Fixed various spelling errors.
Various other bug fixes and improvements.
