Unreal Engine 5 seems like it will support Switch (UPDATE)

Totally unreal!

UPDATE - Epic has since confirmed this to be true.

Epic revealed Unreal Engine 5 today, the next big step for the multiplatform engine used by countless developers. Along with a reveal trailer, Epic shared a very detailed blog on what Unreal Engine can do. Within that blog, you can find the following blurb.

Unreal Engine 5 will be available in preview in early 2021, and in full release late in 2021, supporting next-generation consoles, current-generation consoles, PC, Mac, iOS, and Android.

Unreal Engine 4 is supported on Switch and is certainly a current-gen platform, so it seems likely that Unreal Engine 5 will continue the Switch support. It may not have the full suite of features, but it'll definitely have improvements over what Unreal Engine 4 offers.

Thanks to all who sent this in!

That’s good to hear. At least Epic is thinking about all consoles other than future consoles.

Current probably as in XBOX and PS4P and hopefully NSWP

I'll just going to assume that if Metroid Prime 4 was using Unreal 4 then we now have an excuse for it to be delayed, ported/upgraded to 5 and it'll come out late 2021 or early 2022...

Spoiler

i also believe that Metroid Prime 4 will use a custom version of UE 5 as it primary Engine for the game, or Retro Studios will keep U4 as the primary Engine for Metroid Prime 4.

now that Epic Games confirmed that Switch and possiby a Switch Pro can run UE5, we can expect games like Metroid Prime 4 to run a custom version of UE 5 as it primary Engine.
