Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity demo framerate analysis

I've been framed!

A demo for Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity released a few days back, and people have noticed that the framerate chugs a considerable amount in some areas. Just how bad do things get? Check out the video above to see how low things dip when the action gets heated.

I was hoping with how close Nintendo seem to be involved with this one that they’d be really pushing for decent performance on it but yeah...didn’t run well when I played it. Low resolution in handheld too which I’d be okay with if it performed smoothly but...nah.

Still looking forward to it, had a lot fun with the demo but I really hope they manage to fix it up by or soon after launch.

hopefully they'll also add a perfomance mode like Fire Emblem Warriors had, even if it's docked only like in FEW,

That would be nice, but I don’t expect it will happen. My hope is that maybe the demo build is from a few months back and that optimizations have happened since then for the final release. But more likely this game is pushing the poor Switch processor to its limits, and this choppiness is just how the game will run.

On the bright side, the graphics are very good, even if the framerate is inconsistent.

I hope so as well, but even so I've played the original Hyrule Warriors on Wii U which ran the same, but I wish they can improve it at least.

I didn’t notice any significant chugs. It runs better than BOTW for sure. I was luke warm on Hyrule Warriors, but Age of Calamity feels so much better, and I loved the demo. It convinced me to spend a voucher and preorder the game.
