Mortal Kombat 11 on Switch will not get a crossplay update

Mortal Kombat 11 is getting a crossplay update on Nov. 17th, 2020, letting players on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series XIS, & Xbox One play together. As you might notice, Switch is not mentioned in that lineup. The official Mortal Kombat Twitter account has stated that this feature will not head to Switch. The same goes for PC players, who will also be left to play with their unique player base.

Not surprised at the Switch version being left out. I believe the Switch version uses the Mortal Kombat X mobile engine, so it would be incompatible with the engines the other platforms have.

Steam being left out surprises me though, unless Netherrealm is waiting for the gen 9 launch of the Xbox Series and PS5 to settle first before working on crossplay for Steam.

I imagine part of it is that the PC version was, like the Switch version, outsourced to another developer and its probably out of NR's hands to even do anything with it.

That sucks, but it's understandable.

So I guess Stadia is left out too?
