The developers behind Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin didn't originally plan to bring the game to Switch. That decision was made later on in the game's development, and it certainly seems to be paying off.
As of right now, things couldn't be going better for the game. Physical copies are sold out pretty much everywhere, and streamers are showcasing the game left and right. This surge in attention led to publisher Marvelous' share price being temporarily halted due to an unanticipated surge. Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin even hit #1 on the Switch eShop in some regions.
