Nintendo France shares stats on Switch hardware and software sales for 2020

The French really love Nintendo, and they're eating the Switch up right now. 2020 was another banner year for Nintendo in the country, and Nintendo France managing director Philippe Lavoue shared a bunch of stats on how well the company did. Check out a round-up of the info below.

- Animal Crossing: New Horizons, the best-selling game of 2020 in France, was big with families and kids
- Animal Crossing: New Horizons was in the top 3 for 2020 and remains in the top 3 for 2021
- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Super Mario 3D All-Stars were among 2020’s best-sellers
- Ring Fit Adventure saw a boost due to gyms being closed from the pandemic
- Ring Fit Adventure, Just Dance, and Animal Crossing: New Horizons help convince newcomers to buy a Switch
- Clubhouse Games: 51 Worldwide Classics outsold Ring Fit Adventure, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity and Paper Mario: The Origami King
- Switch annual growth is at double digits
- this kind of growth at this point in a console’s lifecycle has never been seen before at Nintendo
- 7 percent of those in France own a Switch, which puts the system at 4.7 million units sold in the country
- the install base was at 3.3 million units in 2019
- Switch’s growth is over 40 percent and sales in 2020 are divided evenly between young adults and families
