I think you can call that Nintendomination. All of the top 10 games are Switch titles. But then it's been this way for some time.

One of the weirdest graphs is this one comparing PS5 and WiiU:

When you're losing to the Wii U hardware sales by that much, there's something really wrong going on.

WiiU was actually pretty strong sales the first 2 or 3 months. It was later in year 1 and the rest of its life where it tanked. But yeah sony has problems getting enough PS5's made. I wonder how much it would actually be selling in Japan if it was in stock. Definitely not as much as the Switch that's for sure.

Well, in Japan the sales "tanked" by month 3, when they averaged between 8 and 10 thousand units a week. Kinda like the PS5 is now.

The problem in Japan is not how many PS5 units are being made. It's how many units are being allocated to the region. The PS5 had the best December of the PlayStation brand in US history, meanwhile they are worse than the Wii U and the Vita in Japan. So the problem is that Jim Ryan, CLO (Chief Lying Officer) made a statement about the importance of the Japanese for them and it was all a lie (not that anyone should be surprised).

Had they allocated more units to Japan sales would have been higher, sure. But I don't believe they'd be much higher. It's an expensive behemoth that lacks games that sell well in the region. From a brand of home consoles that has been selling fewer and fewer units each passing gen. So the PS5 will reach success because of North America and Europe.
