Hackers discover unused TV-out option on the DS Lite

A neat secret!

GN Version 5.0

The DS Lite launched all the way back in 2006, but fans of the platform are still discovering secrets hiding in the hardware 15+ years later.

A group of hackers/modders that were tinkering with the DS Lite have discovered an interesting feature. For some reason, the system has a TV-out option built in. You won't find this on the original DS or DSi, but it's hiding deep within the DS Lite. This feature is disabled on boot, but with a bit of hardware/software hacking, it can still be accessed.

As you see at the top of this post, the option allows you to output the top screen of your DS Lite to your TV. Sure, it's not the prettiest or most sensible way to play the DS Lite, but it's interesting nonetheless. You have to wonder why just the DS Lite included this feature, and why Nintendo hid it away!

Thanks to Sligeach_eire for the heads up!
