Dear Reader:
More talk of Nintendo working on feature films (UPDATE)
We have an update on this information from Dr. Serkan Toto, a well-known analyst...
1) Some misinformation about Nintendo's move into "movies" and "Hollywood" floating around. That Asahi article should be read with care.
— Dr. Serkan Toto (@serkantoto) May 15, 2016
2) There are two pieces, an article (https://t.co/Gg9DfMGoz4) + the much more relevant actual Kimishima interview (https://t.co/qix0mnHBfw).
— Dr. Serkan Toto (@serkantoto) May 15, 2016
3) In the interview, Kimishima mentions the 1993 Super Mario movie as the reason why Nintendo is NOT looking at live-action movies.
— Dr. Serkan Toto (@serkantoto) May 15, 2016
4) Instead he seems to prefer 3D CD/anime-type content where Nintendo should produce as much by itself as possible.
— Dr. Serkan Toto (@serkantoto) May 15, 2016
5) Also note that he does NOT give a time frame. He says the first title won't be ready this year but also won't take 5 years.

NINTENDO are working with partner companies to possibly enter the movie business using their popular IP according to Asahi

It means that in the future we might see 3d animation movies involving IP's like mario and others.

Nintendo are saying that this project could be seen in the next 2 to 3 years.

They will partner with others but plan to do most in house.
Comic book movies were pretty damn bad for a number of years. It took Hollywood quite some time to find the magic formula to turn comic books into entertaining movies, but now they're huge moneymakers. We just need one game company to make that same boom happen for the game industry. It sure would be nice to see Nintendo make that happen! Thanks to Led-Mirrorknight for the heads up!
