Dear Reader:
Switch's Chinese release doesn't allow access to the eShop outside of China, online multiplayer locked to China
The Chinese release of the Switch is now here, and some people are digging into the system to see how the localized release compares to other regions. As to be expected, there are some considerable differences when it comes to access to content.
While the Switch is still region free, the only version of the eShop that can be accessed is the one available in China. In other words, physical games from any region will work, but digital purchases can only be made on the Chinese eShop.
On top of that, it appears the Switch in China doesn't include worldwide online multiplayer. The only online play available is localized to those who have a Switch in China.
Finally, we learn that WeChat is required to create a Nintendo Account. Once an account is made, players can find other friends on their system, but as of right now, there is no way to add them.
