Nintendo Network maintenance's "distribution of update data" won't bring new Switch firmware
Oh well, maybe next time
Last week, Nintendo made an announcement of Nintendo Network maintenance related to the Switch. The announcement said there would be downtime for the "distribution of update data" tonight. Many thought this might mean new firmware on the way for Switch. Unfortunately, that's not going to be the case.
Nintendo has taken to their official Japanese Twitter account to confirm that their announcement wasn't meant to hint at new firmware. Nintendo has apologized for the confusion on the situation, and it appears the work being done is just routine online maintenance.
