Dear Reader:
Garou: Mark of the Wolves reveal previously-unreleased concept art, discuss the cancelled sequel
Previously undisclosed Garou MOTW character designs
Garou: Mark of the Wolves originally came out over 20 years ago, but we saw the title hit Switch back in 2017. The game has certainly amassed its diehard fans over the years, many of which hoped for a sequel. In a recent live-stream hosted by SNK, Garou devs Nobuyuki Kuroki and Yasuyuki Oda reveal that a sequel was once planned, but never came to fruition.
The duo first showed off concept art from from the original game, which includes a number of designs that are quite different from what we got in the first game. You can check out that artwork in the gallery above. After that, the devs talk about what Garou: Mark of the Wolves would have offered over the original.
The plan was for Garou 2 to include new special moves, new characters like Gato's father, Gaou, and more. Work on the sequel made it to roughly the 50% mark before the project was scrapped. No overall reason for the cancellation was given.
