YouTuber Ludwig announces his own Smash Bros. tournament to be held on December 18, 2022
A new challenger approaches
Recently, Nintendo and eSports producer Panda cancelled the official Smash World Tour event, resulting in the disappointment of many fans. In light of this, YouTuber Ludwig Ahgren has announced that he’ll be holding his own Super Smash Bros. tournament as a replacement. Called “The Scuffed World Tour”, this will be a one day event held on December 18, 2022. Coincidentally (or not), this is the same date as another of Panda’s official Super Smash Bros. events.
The Scuffed World Tour will feature eight top players from both Super Smash Bros. Melee and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate to compete for a grand prize of $50,000. The event will also be used to help raise money for Video Game Boot Camp, a company known for producing media related to Smash Bros. and other fighting games.
It remains to be seen how well attended or successful this event will be compared to official Smash Bros. tournaments, but it’s certainly interesting that someone else is trying to fill the gap now left behind by Nintendo and Panda. He also just raised more than $300,000 for no kids hungry and an animal sanctuary.
