We’re getting closer and closer to March 27, 2023, the day on which the 3DS and and Wii U eShops will both officially shut down for good. This means that purchases of digital software from within those storefronts will no longer be possible after that date. There’s at least one silver lining however, and that is that 3DS system transfers will apparently still function as normal, even after the eShop closes.

Speaking to Nintendo Life, Nintendo UK has confirmed that should you get a new 3DS system for any reason, you will still be able to transfer all of your games and save data from one system to the other using their standard method. You don’t have to worry about those games being lost, deleted, or trapped on one specific console. This is great news for anyone who might choose to buy a new 3DS at some point in the future.

In addition to system transfers, you’ll also still be able to redownload games onto your system that you owned already. Click here to read more details about the eShop’s closure and how it might affect your games.
