Shining Force artist Yoshitaka Tamaki has passed away

We’re sad to report that legendary game artist Yoshitaka Tamaki has passed away. While the news was just confirmed today, it was revealed that Tamaki passed away back on July 13th, 2023. Tamaki’s passing came after a long battle with lung cancer, and he left us at just 55 years old.

Yoshitaka Tamaki has made some major contributions to gaming over the years, having worked as an illustrator, character designer, and scenario writer for games such as Shining Force, Landstalker, and Alundra.

Our hearts go out to all those impacted by the passing of Tamaki. There’s no doubt his contributions to the game industry will be remembered for years to come, and so will the legacy of Tamaki.
