My Time at Portia's next update will reduce load times

Adventure RPG My Time at Sandrock is coming to the Switch in just a few days. This is good news not just for new fans, but apparently for anyone playing the developer’s previous title My Time at Portia as well.

According to the developers on Twitter, they were able to use the optimization techniques they learned in porting My Time at Sandrock to improve the loading times in Portia. Check out the video below to see a comparison of those load times in action:

Load times appear to have been improved by around three seconds across the board. That may not sound like much, but in practice, it’s sure to make the gameplay experience a lot smoother.

There’s no word yet on exactly when the update that features this optimization will drop, so stay tuned for more info. Meanwhile, My Time at Sandrock will be available on November 2nd, 2023.
