The monster catching action game Palworld launched in early access just the other day on XBox and PC, and it’s already sold over two million units in just a couple of days. Because of its similarity to the Pokémon series, Palworld has been jokingly referred to as “Pokémon With Guns,” but now that the game is playable, some fans are taking issue with the specifics of its monster designs.

Across Twitter, fans have been sharing comparison images of creatures from Palworld next to Pokémon they think might have “inspired” their looks, such as Lucario, Mewtwo, and Cinderace. Whether or not these similarities are coincidences is up to viewer interpretation. As of now, the Palworld devs have yet to respond to any accusations.

Below, check out a series of tweets featuring various comparisons and see what you think:

A lot of people make a lot of spurious accusations of something being a rip-off of their favorite games. I may have had an anti-Digimon phase as a young lad (turns out it’s great).

But HOLY HELL this is creatively bankrupt. I hope the gameplay is doing something special because the monsters all look like they’re from that design-a-Pokemon AI generator.
