If you’re feeling nostalgic for the classic Nintendo Wii menu, you may want to check out “Wii Phone”, an Android app that’s currently available on the Google Play store. Created by developer KaruzoHikari, this free app converts your phone screen into a recreation of the Wii’s menu, complete with music, sound effects, and animation.

When you first install the app, it comes loaded with familiar programs such as the Mii Channel, Photo Channel, and Wii Shop Channel. Don’t get too excited, because these just redirect to basic phone apps such as your photo gallery and contacts list. If you want, you can also add links to any other apps on your phone, including games. Custom made icons and animations are available from within the app to give things a little more flair.

The Wii Phone app may not let you hook up your old Wiimotes and play Super Mario Galaxy, but it does provide a nice dose of nostalgia for anyone with fond memories of the Wii. Whether or not Nintendo will take issue with the unsanctioned use of the Wii aesthetic remains to be seen, but for now the app is freely available to Android phone users. Click here to view the download page, or check out the video below to see how the app looks in action.
