More details have leaked about an upcoming LEGO set based on the Great Deku Tree from The Legend of Zelda series. Some of these details were heard previously via past rumors about the set, now further corroborated by German LEGO blog Bricktastic, and shared via Video Games Chronicle.

According to the recent reports, the Great Deku Tree set will be released on September 1, 2024. It will cost 300 Euros, which is about $325 USD. The set will consist of 2,500 pieces, and you’ll be able to use those pieces to build two different variations of the Deku Tree - one inspired by its appearance in The Ocarina of Time, the other in Breath of the Wild. Both builds will rest on a black plate with a Zelda logo, but the shape and features (such as green leaves vs. pink leaves) will differ.

You won’t be able to build both versions at the same time with just one set. It also sounds like the set will include minifigures of Classic Link, Young Link, Breath of the Wild Link and Breath of the Wild Zelda, plus a Hylian Shield and Ocarina.

We still don’t have an official confirmation for any of this, but based on the repeated leaks from reliable sources, it’s probably safe to assume that most of this information will come true. We’ll see what happens!

So expensive....ugh...It's cool but I don't think I can justify the cost...

Needs to be more like 3200-3400 pieces to justify a $300+ charge, but this is the direction LEGO is going unfortunately. They are succeeding at normalizing higher prices for fewer pieces. The past couple of years I've been frustrated with the arbitrary price hikes and simply have been buying fewer LEGO models as a result, but clearly the trend is only going to get worse.

Hopefully the Deku Tree will contain a unique enough build to distinguish itself from other tall tree models like the Treehouse or Winnie the Pooh.

It's probably out of my price range, but I'm excited to see what the minifigures look like.
