While everyone is eager for more info on Firaxis Games’ upcoming Marvel’s Midnight Suns, there are still plenty of fans wondering about Firaxis’ pre-existing strategy game, XCOM. The series dates all the way back to the 90s, and although it’s been six years since the last official game release (and two years since its most recent spin-off title), there’s always hope for something new.

In an upcoming interview with Video Games Chronicle, the director of XCOM 1 and XCOM 2, Jake Solomon, took the opportunity to assuage any fears fans might have about that series falling by the wayside.

“As long as I live, as long as Firaxis lives, XCOM is… I won’t even say sleeping. I will say XCOM is definitely not dead,” Solomon said.

So there you have it! While this is far from an official announcement, it is certainly a hopeful sign that there’s more to come from the world of XCOM in the future, whether that be in the form of DLC, spin-offs, or even an XCOM 3. Stay tuned as we continue to wait for more news on what’s coming out of Firaxis Games, and whether or not it happens to land on the Nintendo Switch.
