The debut trailer for the Super Mario Bros. movie came out yesterday, and it seems like it was very well received by most. A heaping helping of that praise goes Jack Black’s way, as he’s the one bringing Bowser to life. From the few lines that Bowser got in the trailer, people are already thinking that Black is going to steal the show.
Jack Black opened up a bit more about his role as Bowser in the movie during an interview with The Popverse. According to Black, we’re going to see Bowser dabble with a musical side at some point during the film.
“Well, you know, I did bring some of my heavy metal roots because — in a way — Bowser is kind of like a heavy metal rockstar. You know, a big, strong, and scary rock star. And I did a little bit of rocking. I think you’ll be surprised to see that Bowser has a musical side. I’m thinking after the movie comes out I’m taking it to Broadway, there might be a one-man show.”
When will we get to see some of this musical mayhem? Your guess is as good as ours. We could always see Bowser belting out some tunes in new trailers or promotional clips, but we might have to wait until the film’s release on April 7th, 2023. Let’s cross our fingers for a sneak peek somewhere in the near future.
