Now that we’re 5+ years into the Switch’s lifespan, the platform’s library is filled with so-called ‘impossible’ ports. One of the most recent games to receive that fan-given tag is NieR:Automata The End of YoRHa Edition, as many thought the Switch could never handle this adventure. Thankfully, yet again, we’ve seen that the Switch indeed makes the impossible possible.

In the video above, the Digital Foundry team takes a very close look at NieR:Automata The End of YoRHa Edition to see just how the Switch port came together, and also compare it to the other versions of the game. Obviously there have been some concessions, but it’s still amazing to see just how close this Switch port came to its source release.

As they do with all Switch games, Digital Foundry offers an insanely deep, technical look at NieR:Automata The End of YoRHa Edition. If you’re not up-to-speed on technical jargon, you might get lost in the weeds a bit. Still, everyone should be able to follow along with most of the content, and it certainly gives a fascinating look at how this game was pieced together on Switch.
