There have been plenty of Kirby-related books to release over the years, and it seems to be a popular vehicle for the gaming star in Japan. That’s why the announcement of another Kirby publication isn’t that surprising, but the source material behind this one certainly is.

Kirby’s Dream Buffet came to the Switch a few months back, and now it’s going to be the focus of a new light novel. For those who don’t know, a light novel is a style of young adult novel primarily targeting high school and middle school students. Light novels are commonly illustrated in a manga art style, and some have their chapters first serialized monthly in anthology magazines before being collected and compiled into book format.

Author Mie Takase has been working on Kirby light novels for over 9 years now, and they’ve created 25 different volumes. Kirby’s Dream Buffet is the next light novel they’ll be tackling, and we even have an official rundown of what to expect from the publication’s story. You can read the synopsis below.

A gourmet festival has begun in Pop Star! Kirby and his friends are excited to see the mountain of delicious sweets created by Pauline, the greatest witch in the galaxy, with a magic fork that grants wishes. Kirby’s wish to eat more and more delicious sweets was granted by the magic fork!

Immediately, the bodies of Kirby, Dedede the Great, and Meta Knight become smaller and smaller, and they enter the mountain of sweets. And so began the great race to eat the most candy as fast as possible for the title of Gourmet King! Who will be the winner?

The light novel, titled Kirby: Full Stomach, Perfect Circle, Dream Buffet!, will see release in Japan on December 14th, 2022. It’s not likely this one will get localized, so you’ll have to snag an import if you want to add it to your bookshelf.
