Sakurai’s last developer video was part of his grab bag series, as it discussed the price of gaming. Sakurai is back with another video today, and this one is very much part of his traditional game development series. In today’s feature, Sakurai dives deep into the topic of in-game text.

In particular, Sakurai discusses how the appropriate display size for game text isn’t necessarily the same for each language. There are a lot of elements that need to be considered, and squeezing multiple languages into text box restraints can be a bit of a nightmare.

How do you make sure all the important text is included in each language, fits in its space, and is actually legible? As you might expect, it takes a serious amount of effort to get things right, and no two games are the same. Sakurai should know, as he’s been involved with multiple worldwide releases since the start of his career!
