No other games stood a chance
The next round of stats on UK software sales has arrived. You can check out the top 40 for the week ending Nov. 20th, 2022 below, along with some notes on how certain games in particular performed.
- Pokemon Scarlet/Violet opening week sales were up 4% compared with FIFA 23 (the previous biggest)
- Pokémon Scarlet/Violet are the second-biggest Pokemon launch in the UK (Sun/Moon are #1)
- Pokémon Scarlet/Violet generated more money during its launch week compared with Sun and Moon
- Violet accounted for 52% of sales, while Scarlet accounted for 42%
- the double pack featuring both games made up the remaining 6%
- Scarlet/Violet are 36% bigger than Sword and Shield
- Scarlet/Violet are also 70% bigger than the Diamond and Pearl remakes
- Scarlet/Violet are 56% bigger than Pokémon Legends: Arceus
- Switch hardware sales rose 62% week-on-week, led by the OLED model
- this is the biggest week of the year so far for Switch console sales in the UK
