The Witcher 3 garnered a boatload of awards and accolades when it first launched, and has continued to do so ever since. Now CD Projekt Red has one more feather to stick in their cap with Witcher 3, and it’s quite an impressive one.

While Japan is the land of RPGs, that almost exclusively refers to Japanese-developed titles. Western-developed RPGs haven’t found much of an audience in Japan, but Witcher 3 has managed to break through and find a very sizable amount of fans.

According to the latest numbers, The Witcher 3 has sold 1 million units in Japan alone. That figure comes from the combined tally across all platforms, so Switch is definitely included. Best of all, this 1 million figure now makes Witcher 3 the best-selling western-developed RPG in Japan. I’d say it’s a title very worthy of that achievment!
