After literally years of speculation, Nintendo finally confirmed a longstanding rumor by releasing Metroid Prime Remastered on Switch. Now that the game’s gone from rumor to reality, we can dive in and find out some details on how it all came together.

From yesterday’s announcement, we knew that Nintendo and Retro Studios were involved in development, but it turns out a third company worked on the title as well. Nintendo saw fit to bring in Iron Galaxy Studios to do some of the heavy lifting on this remaster as well.

Iron Galaxy Studios has previously worked on Switch ports for Skyrim, Diablo III, and Overwatch, so they certainly know their way around the hardware. It looks like Nintendo believed Iron Galaxy to be the perfect fit for this release, and according to fan reaction so far, it seems like Nintendo made a good choice!

A number of other support studios can also be found in the credits of Metroid Prime Remastered. To get the game out the door, Nintendo teamed up with Airship Images Limited, Atomhawk Design, CGBot, Gamesim Inc, Liquid Development, Original Force LTD, Shanghai Mineloader Digital Technology, and Zombot Studio.

Man, that particular image makes the structure of Samus' shoulder seem really weird. I'm trying to imagine a humanoid body underneath that armor.

Nintendo has always gotten assistance from other developers. Like how Monolith helped in development with BOTW and TOTK.
