For those who don’t know, EA and the FIFA brand are parting ways, which means no more ‘FIFA’ branding for EA’s hugely popular soccer series. It also means some other tweaks and changes are on the way, but the real story is that EA felt their series could do just fine without paying the increasingly exorbitant amount FIFA was asking for.

We reported on the EA/FIFA split when the news originally broke, and we also revealed that EA would be renaming their soccer series EA Sports FC. At that time, we weren’t sure if the new branding would make its way over to Switch with the next installment. Now we have an official confirmation on that.

The official Nintendo Switch Facebook account has posted a very simple message, along with the logo you see above. The Facebook post read, “Join The Club this July.” Absolutely no other details have been shared, but at the very least, we know that soccer fans on Switch will get at least one more installment in EA’s franchise.

Now, will EA Sports FC be yet another reskin and roster update of previous FIFA games, or will we get something closer to a complete overhaul? It seems likely we’ll get the ‘Legacy’ treatment once again, but let’s keep fingers and toes crossed that won’t be the case.
