One thing has remained consistent with the Super Mario Bros. movie since its launch earlier in the week. Analysts have used all sorts of data and projections to forecast the movie’s revenue, and all of those have come up short.

While the Super Mario Bros. movie has only been in cinemas for two+ days now, it continues to soar past expectations in terms of revenue. As things stand right now, the movie brought in an additional $27.6 million on Thursday, pushing the overseas total to $62.5 million. Lumping everything together, that puts the movie’s worldwide box office at $120.7 million.

With Friday, Saturday and Sunday set to be huge days for the film, analysts are expecting things to be even bigger than previous projections pointed to. By the time Sunday closes out, analysts are expecting an overseas total north of $160 million, and a global pull of $300 million.

To put things into more perspective, at the start of yesterday, analysts were expecting Despicable Me 2’s $143 million opening to hold onto the #1 record for Illumination. Just 24 hours later, and pretty much everyone tracking box office numbers now sees the Super Mario Bros. movie easily taking that crown. We’ll see how things play out by Sunday’s end, but all signs point to an incredible success!
