GoNintendo Rewind: The Week of April 7th, 2023

Welcome to GoNintendo Rewind! This will be a weekly feature that takes a look back at the video content we shared over the last 7 days. You can look forward to podcast episodes, clips pulled from each show, gameplay videos, what we’re up to on Patreon, and more!

This is the third installment of GoNintendo Rewind, as this week also marked the return of more original video content on GoNintendo. While our return to video will focus mostly on podcast content and a weekly gameplay video at first, we’ll slowly branch out into more features. If you’re curious what we’ve been up to video-wise each week, this is the perfect place to pop in!

First up, we have a discussion about the Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom gameplay that Nintendo recently showed off. Nintendo gave us just 10 minutes of gameplay from the new title, yet that was more than enough to push our excitement through the roof. Man, the wait for May 12th, 2023 just got infinitely tougher!

Next up, we set out to spread the word on the Ubisoft Paris situation. For those who don’t know, Ubisoft Paris put their Just Dance: 2023 Edition employees through an incredible amount of crunch to get the game out the door before 2022 ended. The staff put in ungodly amounts of overtime and were promised help was coming in the form of new employees, but that never came to be. This kind of stuff shouldn’t happen!

We also talked about the discovery of the original draft for the Super Mario Bros. 1993 live-action movie. While the movie we got is all kinds of zany and odd, the first scripts were even stranger. You won’t believe some of the stuff going on in this idea for the movie, and it almost makes us wish this version made it to the big screen!

Finally, the latest installment of Gameplay Friday has me checking out the e-Reader levels in Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3 while talking about the Super Mario Bros. movie. There’s been all kinds of interesting discussion surrounding the movie, with the focus being on how put off critics were, yet movie-goers seem to be having a blast. Somewhere in the middle lies the truth, and I discuss that and more in today’s gameplay video1
