After some time of lackluster support, it appears Nintendo has officially made the move to close up the Nintendo eShop in Russia.

Nintendo of Europe has sent an email to publishers letting them know that eShop sales have been halted in Russia as of today. This goes along with Nintendo stopping the shipments of physical Switch games and hardware to Russia in early 2022. Furthermore, Nintendo plans to “wind down” its Russian subsidiary going forward.

According to Nintendo’s email, this decision was made due to their “ economic outlook.” The Nintendo eShop in Russia will only allow customers to re-download titles they’ve previously purchased, as new purchases will not be supported. This also includes the inability to redeem download codes going forward.
