Back in 1989, a lawsuit was filed against Nintendo over the NES Zapper. A soldier was behind the lawsuit, and he claimed he had mistaken the original gray NES Zapper for a real gun. This led to Nintendo changing the Zapper’s color from gray to orange.

At the time, many scoffed at the idea of the NES Zapper being mistaken for an actual gun no matter what the color. Fast-forward over 3 decades later, and we’re still seeing people brandish the Zapper for nefarious reasons, and hoping to fool those they wish to harm.

Reports have come in about a man in North Carolina who went to rob a convenience store. He showed the clerk at the store his gun and then held them up to steal $300 from the register.

As you can see in the image at the top of this post, the man painted an NES Zapper to make it more realistic for his robbery plans. Thankfully, the clerk reported the robbery shortly after it happened and the suspect was apprehended down the street.
