Here’s a personal note for you lovely people. When it comes to the WarioWare franchise, my favorite entry is Smooth Moves on the Wii, hands down. I had so much fun with that game, and I found it to be an absolutely perfect use of the Wii Remote. Fast-forward to yesterday, and you can easily imagine my excitement when Nintendo revealed WarioWare: Move It! during yesterday’s Nintendo Direct.

While the name of the game didn’t tie it to Smooth Moves on the Wii, the gameplay of WarioWare: Move It! certainly did. The game looks like a very straightforward WarioWare game, but the Joy-Con are the focus of the fun. We’ve already had WarioWare: Get It Together! on Switch, but that was very much a spin-off doing some unique stuff. WarioWare: Move It! is a true return to form.

Over in Japan, Nintendo wasn’t shy at all about WarioWare: Move It’s Wii inspiration. In that part of the world, the game is named Chō Odoru Made in Wario, which loosely translates to Super Dancing Made in Wario. Want to know what Smooth Moves was called in Japan? That would be Odoru Made in Wario, or roughly Dancing Made in Wario.

Knowing that Smooth Moves is very much the inspiration behind Move It! gives me that much more confidence that this upcoming installment could give my favorite a run for its money.
