For quite some time now, Nintendo fans have been hoping that Nintendo would bring GBA games to the Switch Online service. There have even been rumors of that happening over the last few years. Today brings us yet another rumor, but this one certainly has quite an air of credibility to it.

Rumor has it that Nintendo’s official Game Boy Advance emulator for Switch has somehow leaked online. That includes files for the emulator itself, games, and more. Those who have dug through the content have even gotten the emulator working, so as you can see, this is much more than your usual ‘ear to the ground’ rumor, as there’s all sorts of evidence to support it.

As you might expect, this emulator supports all the other features that other Switch Online legacy games include: save states, rewind options, and more. Along with that, a list of games was included in the emulator. Please note that we are unsure as to whether these games are coming to the service, or are just being used for test purposes. You can see the list with notes below.

If this emulator has leaked, you’d imagine an official announcement from Nintendo isn’t far off. Also, keep in mind that GBA content coming to Switch would most likely point to Game Boy and GBC games coming as well. We’ll keep our eyes peeled for more details.

I mean, Mario Bros. was in every SMBA game, so it has to be one of the 4, at least.

Golden Sun
Golden Sun: The Lost Age

Please be true!!

I could see GB/GBC games coming to NSO basic and GBA going to the expansion.

Just my opinion but the lineup is a little mediocre. I get that they don't want to double dip from previous consoles (link to the past, smb3, smw etc). But where is minish cap? And the metroid games. Etc

Golden sun is hype tho

@kuribo

Would be great for them to announce GBA at the June direct including Golden Sun followed by a big reveal of a brand new Golden Sun for switch!

This isn’t a full list of games (or even indicative of anything that’s coming) it’s just a list of roms they’ve used to test against the emulator they developed.

Hope we see the smaller stuff get on the service.

@tlk777

There is no lineup. That's just test stuff. From 2020.

Well, I hacked my SNES classic (mini) and added most of these, and more. I’d still rather play them on Switch since it’s portable and the NSO app has quality of life enhancements that I like. But I do hope these come soon.

Oh yes!
Please let this happen
Please let this happen
I've been asking for it ever since NSO even started from NES
Please let this happen
Please let this happen
if it does, I have every excuse to defend NSO overall!

Minish Cap and Metroid Fusion are chilling in my 3DS

Would love golden sun on switch but I don't need Nintendo to kill all the hype from my analogue pocket when it finally arrives and I have both those games physical.

@streex

Yes but not a 3D new Golden Sun like Dark Dawn, but a HD-2D style :)
