Great news for players, bad for the fighters

The Mortal Kombat franchise is known for its blood and guts, and that aspect is on full display in the series’ fatalities. They’ve always been over-the-top, but in the franchise’s next iteration, they’ll be easier than ever to pull off.

Mortal Kombat 1 is still going to bring multiple fatalities for each character, but now they won’t require complex inputs to enjoy them. This time around, the buttons necessary to see a fatality have been whittled down to the bare essentials. For every single character, all you have to do to see a fatality is hit Down, Down and then a specific button; that’s it!

Equally important is the fact that you don’t have to worry about spacing for fatalities either. Previous Mortal Kombat games, along with multi-button inputs, required you to have specific spacing to pull of a fatality. Now you can stand anywhere you want to activate them.

Easier fatalities has been a thing in MK on and off. I remember the one button fatalities of the 2D era with the only catch is spacing (though certain characters fatalities might not be doable in one button mode). I think this is the first time they allowed easy fatalities by default since the 2D era. X and 11 had easy fatalities as paid DLC.
